Consortium

The EU-SIDE consortium brings together a diverse and complementary set of institutions from six European countries — Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Finland, Belgium, and the Netherlands — covering the full spectrum of actors needed to support high-quality and democratic teacher education. This includes:

  • Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with extensive experience in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and research;
  • Teacher training and continuous professional development (CPD) providers;
  • Schools and regional training centres with direct links to in-service teachers and educational communities;
  • Policy-level actors and local authorities involved in educational innovation;
  • and a European university alliance (RUN-EU), ensuring reach, interoperability, and system-level influence.

The consortium includes both central and peripheral institutions, creating a balanced and territorially inclusive partnership, which is critical for addressing regional disparities in access to innovative teacher education and participation in EU programmes.

The development and putting into practice of democracy and social innovation competencies at Primary school level through to Secondary and VET school levels, cultivating an educational environment, should be a powerful catalyst to improve our regional development capacity and the ability to address future challenges.
